Today I had planned to do a post on electronic textbooks, but this morning family lost our believed dog to a stomach tumor. Jackie was a mutt we rescued from the shelter, who stole our hearts and faithfully protected my children for the last eight years. While we never really figured out what she had lived through she but we knew she did not like toys, only barked at UPS trucks, and loved to have her belly rubbed after drinking tuna juice. Today I was giving dog Christmas gifts to others in the office with dogs and after work will be burying her in the backyard before heading to
Camp Overlook to
walk to the manger. Anthony Breznican's (USA TODAY) 2010 article says it all "
With pets as 'part of the family,' grief hits hard when they pass". Did you know that 3 out of 4 pet owners (75 percent) consider their pet part of the family (
Pet Age, 2012). Almost half (45 percent) would consider taking their pet on family vacations (
Pet Age, 2012). The last thing that the vet said to us was remember what is dog spelled backward?
I once again relied on
Blackbaord, Inc (Bb), not to provide customer support or teach me about social media, but to give me something to think about. That was
BbWorld 2012 in New Orleans where they were so kind to be as a VIP Blogger and allowing me to go back to New Orleans to visit with friends. Blackboard keeps BbWorld & DevCon attendees extremely busy, so there isn't time to explore the cities the conferences are in unless you come early or stay longer. New Orleans has so much history it was a shame that more people did not get a chance to experience the culture, take a
ghost tour, or
run with the bulls.
Here is just a little 7 minute clip from the museums in
Jackson Square. Sorry it is just pictures this time. But if you have heard BbWorld 2013 is starting to rock. It will be in Las Vegas, July 7 - 12, 2013. You can learn more about BbWorld 2013, by clicking
here. Plan to attend this year network,
learn about Bb, and build some
memories that may help you through a future rough times!
Thank you Bb for helping make today a little easier!
